Remember those great days of last summer?
With winter's chill still upon us, they may seem but a distant memory, however...it won't be long
and we will be dusting off that bottle of suntan lotion and breaking out the bowls again. |

The wonderful thing about lawn bowls is, that if you're new to the game it's easy to learn and you will be playing in no time. But if you've been playing the game for awhile, you will know that it's a game of stragegy and there is always more to discover. For those of you who are just starting out, the aim of the game is to get your bowl as close as you can to the small white ball, called a jack. The one whose bowl is closest to the jack - wins. But all is not as it seems. The bowls are weighted so they don't roll in a straight line. The trick is to learn how to curve your bowl in just the right way to place it exactly where you want it to go. Then if your bowl is the closest it's the opposition's turn to try and knock your bowl out of the way. |

The best thing about lawn bowls is that it's one of the few games you get to play, chat to your mates, and eat and drink at the same time. What more could you want!
